The Standard Marconi W/T Installation (which was fitted in the vast majority of merchant ships).
Despite his name, the fame of Marconi and what is written in the history books of this time, Marconi did not have a great influence over the Royal Navy. Indeed, very few of his installation were installed into RN ships, and what was fitted, was usually 'off the shelf' sets for our support vessels, the RFA's (Royal Fleet Auxiliaries). Here is one of those rare fittings into RFA Petroleum RFA Burma and RFA Mercedes. |
